Designated as a national 5A-level war memorial park (often called “war-themed park” in China), the Hailar Memorial Park of the World Anti-Fascist War in Hulunbuir, Inner Mongolia autonomous region, covers a total area of 110 hectares. Built on the site of the former Hailar Fortress constructed by the Japanese invaders, the park integrates themes of patriotism, internationalism, and revolutionary heroism. It stands as one of the few war memorial parks of its kind in China.
The park consists of both above-ground and underground sections. The ground area includes the Hailar Fortress Site Museum, a themed plaza, war relics, simulated battle scenes, and visitor service facilities. The underground area features restored military structures such as the Imperial Japanese Army's headquarters, soldier barracks, infirmary, and communication room. The park's architecture is grand and solemn, evoking deep reflection and a profound sense of historical gravity.
Through extensive displays of text, photographs, artifacts, and the use of advanced exhibition technologies, the Hailar Memorial Park illustrates the heinous crimes committed by the Japanese Kwantung Army in Northeast China. It also highlights the indomitable spirit, resilience, and heroic resistance of the Chinese nation. By uncovering historical facts about the efforts of China, Russia, and Mongolia during the occupation of Northeast China, the exhibition praises the spirit of the patriotic officers and soldiers of the Northeast United Army during the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression (1931-45) and the Northeast Army, and the people of all ethnic groups in Hulunbuir in the war of resistance against Japanese aggression during World War II.
